Built by Liisa and Jouko Saloma in 1972, the house is largely their own handiwork – only the obligatory plumbing, electrical and masonry work was once done by outside professionals. The house has been regularly renovated and extended in 1986.
Now the house’s original heating network was in need of renovation.
– Let’s put it this way: for a few years now, we’ve been thinking about renovating the heating network. The pipes go under the floor and I guess they have an age they can withstand. There were no leaks yet, but the renovation was a preventive measure,” says Jouko Salomaa.

The Salomat found the House Security based on a newspaper advertisement. A company representative came to visit Liisa and Jouko and a quote for the renovation was quickly received. The renovation in Salomai concerned the original part of the house, where 10 radiators and their piping were replaced. The new composite pipes run neatly over the skirting boards and the upper pipes are hidden inside a lightweight casing.
– It came up that there is such a case. It would have been a bit of a big job if everything had been laid along the floor. There were two large display cases in front, with a total of 400 different candlesticks. The showcases should have been moved.
The renovation of the heating network progressed as promised and was completed within a week. The renovation did not interfere with their lives, and the couple did not have to clean up after the renovation. The end result is Salomai’s
– Didn’t make a mess. The traces were immediately cleaned up. The vacuum cleaner was next to us the whole time we were drilling. It’s such a cool job, Jouko says.
– The radiator gives off heat slightly better, i.e. more evenly than with the old radiators. You no longer have to worry about pipes running under the floor.
