“This was a real feat of skill”
In autumn 2013, Pohjolan Taloturva carried out a heating renovation in a 60’s detached house in Pirkanmaa.
– The previous occupants of the house had not carried out any central heating or radiator repairs during the whole period. I wanted to renovate the house to make it safer to live in,” says Pirkko Keskitalo-Kanervisto.
There were a few options for the renovation, but the reasons for choosing Taloturva were clear. – The salesperson who visited us knew how to make her point in a way that even a woman could understand. We went through the house and he explained in a professional and understandable way what would happen in the renovation and how it should be done,” Pirkko says.
– The choice was also influenced by Taloturva’s promise to clean up after themselves and take away the old boiler and other renovation waste,” he continues. The renovation went off without a hitch and Pirkko is particularly pleased with how smoothly the relocation of the old boiler went.
– The boiler was located in the basement boiler room, so it was quite difficult to transport it out of there in one piece. I was afraid that if the boiler had to be chopped up, the whole house would be covered in black dust.
– However, the building security installers were so skilled that the boiler was lifted out whole. This was a real show of skill and I am very grateful for their professionalism,” Pirkko says. After the boiler was replaced, new radiators and heating pipes were installed.
– The old pipes ran under the floor, but the new ones were installed at the wall/ceiling interface. Now I no longer have to worry about an old pipe bursting under the floor,” he says. The whole renovation went exactly as Pirkko wanted and expected.
– The work was done as agreed; when you come to work, you work there. There are breaks, but you don’t leave the site,” says Pirkko.
