The Gulf Sides live in a three-storey detached house in Nokia. The house was built in 1960, and the Lahdensivut have now lived there for 24 years. The house has been well looked after and has been renovated several times over the years.
– Basically, the house has been renovated from floor to ceiling at least once. This heating network replacement was probably the last major renovation,” says Pekka.
Competitive price and expertise were key
The bay side had considered that the heating network should be renovated. The renovation was considered from both an economic and safety perspective.
– If you ever give up this house, it will be easier to sell it, because you won’t have to worry about damage. It was thought that a 55-year-old pipeline running through the structure was worth replacing before a bend started to leak.
Taloturva, who was previously unknown to the Gulf, contacted Pekka at the right moment and offered to visit his home for a survey. As a result, the couple decided to commission a renovation and put three different contractors out to tender, with Taloturva being chosen on the basis of both price and professionalism.
– I did a price comparison and looked into the background of the companies. The price was competitive, and Mikko Karppinen , who visited us at home, explained the renovation and gave a very detailed presentation of the company,” Pekka says.

In the renovation of the bay side, the building’s heating network was completely replaced. New heat pipes were installed on the surface of the structures, and all 14 radiators in the house were replaced and fitted with electronic thermostats.
– The renovation went very well and took seven working days. Old radiators and other renovation waste always went away at the end of the day in the House Security truck, and we didn’t have to worry about that.
– The new thermostats are easier to adjust. There is also an aesthetic benefit, that the radiators are good looking. The value of the house will certainly also increase with such a renovation,” Pekka concludes.
