Reijo and Helmi Karvonen own a detached house built in 1965 in Urjalankylä. Over the last couple of years, the couple became concerned about the condition of the original drainage system in their home, so they decided to order a sewer renovation from the building security company. The renovation of Karvoste, which is now in its retirement years, went smoothly and efficiently.
– Before the renovation, our home had cast iron piping, which was once installed by an old-fashioned blacksmith. Over the last couple of years, we started to pay attention to the slow drainage in the kitchen and shower rooms. The iron pipes built in the 1960s were at the end of their useful life,” says Reijo. The Karvos wanted to have the renovation done before any damage was done. In the worst case, the pipes would have failed during the winter frosts, making the renovation challenging to carry out. – When done in the summer, this kind of renovation is painless, and there are no problems with air conditioning, for example, as the exterior doors can be kept open, Reijo says.
Building security at the market
Reijo says he has been familiar with the grafting method for quite some time. While shopping at the market, he ended up at the Taloturva show car, where the salesman started talking to him. Reijo submitted his details to the company and says he chose Taloturva as his contractor after an encounter in the demonstration car. The renovation was completed in five days.
– On the first day, the boys couldn’t get a vacuum truck, but then things started to happen. Everything went smoothly, and the boys were busy running around our house. The work was done using the diving method, so there was no need for any major demolition and we were able to be there,” says Reijo.
– For us, the renovation was a straightforward affair and went well. The renovators protected the floors and access routes on the first day, and there was no mess,” says Reijo.
Water flows through the pipes without a hitch
After cleaning by the building security, it was found that there were no blockages, holes or cracks in the old cast iron pipes. However, silt had built up in the old pipes and the branches were blocked.
There was no need for the furry ones to evacuate their homes, even though the plumbing was out of order for a week. They were able to take a sauna in their nearby cottage and use their own compostable outdoor bag.
The only thing that worried the retired couple about the sewer renovation was the cost. However, the household credit helped. Reijo feels that Taloturva is an effective solution for similar renovations and refurbishments. With the submersion, water flows smoothly through the pipes in your home.
– At the moment, we still rely on our own wells. The municipality has promised to bring the sewerage to us within a couple of years. Our house will be easy to connect to the municipal sewerage system in the future, now that the pipes are in place. And renovation does not reduce the value of the house. We are happy with the end result, Reijo says.
