– This house was once built as an eternal monument. The house was designed by Alvar Aalto’s apprentice architect Pekka Pitkänen. This is a very Alvar Aalto style house. The walls are half a metre thick and the windows are embedded in oak, says Esa Käyhkö.
”The boys did a commendable job”
Over the years, Esa and Raija have worked hard to renovate the house. The most recent renovation is the sewer lock by Taloturva. Before the renovation, the cast iron sewer pipes were in their original condition. The renovation started with a drainage survey, where the condition of the drains was checked. The pipes had been preserved in a condition that made it possible to carry out the diving.
– The renovation was a multi-stage project, because the house is so big and there are several sewer lines. All three toilets were inspected and the toilets were replaced. Everything went absolutely flawlessly,” says Esa.
– The boys did a commendable job. Everything went as it should. The cleanliness was good, all the floors were covered and the rubbish was collected,” Esa sums up.
”The renovation did not cause any disruption”
The grafting was done in spring 2017, partly during the ice hockey World Cup. The renovation did not affect the couple’s living arrangements or their ability to watch the games. They spent part of the time in Helsinki.

After the renovation, the final result of the socketing was photographed and discussed together.
Esa describes the end result as good. The sewer renovation was the last major renovation the couple had planned so far. Esa reckons that everything should be fine for a long time to come. They had a very pleasant impression of the way the company operates.
– We were left with a nice and pleasant impression. Our neighbourhood is made up of houses built in the same period, 1964-1965, so I’m sure others will have to renovate their sewers at some point. We can recommend House Security to our neighbours and we have already had discussions with them,” says Esa.
– We have given positive feedback about Taloturva. Everything went very nicely, Esa concludes.
